Accounting Services That Support Your Business Growth

Running a business means making decisions with real money on the line, and those decisions are only as good as the numbers behind them. At Your Success Lab, our team of Chartered Accountants doesn’t just keep your books compliant; we make sure your accounting actually tells you something useful about where your business stands and where it’s heading.

Based in Adelaide and working with clients across Australia, we combine accounting, tax, and business advisory under one roof – so the numbers side of your business and the growth side of your business are never working against each other. Too many business owners treat accounting as a once-a-year obligation, handled reactively when tax time rolls around. We take a different approach: your accounting should be a live, ongoing part of how you run and grow your business, not a compliance box ticked in July.

Whether you’re an established SME with a growing team, a multi-entity business, or a business owner preparing for succession or sale, our accounting services are built to scale with you – not force you to outgrow your accountant every few years.

What's Included

What Our Accounting Services Include

Good accounting isn’t just about lodging on time. It’s about having financials you can actually trust, and support that’s there before something becomes a problem – not just after. Our core accounting services cover the compliance work every business needs, delivered with the kind of attention to detail that means nothing gets missed at year-end.

Annual Financial Statements & Compliance

We prepare accurate, ATO-compliant financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders, giving you a clear, reliable picture of your business’s financial position every year, not just a document to file away. We also make sure your statements are structured in a way that’s genuinely useful for decision-making, not just compliance.

BAS Lodgement & Reporting

Quarterly or monthly, we handle your Business Activity Statement lodgements accurately and on time, so GST reporting is one less thing competing for your attention. We also review your BAS data for anomalies before lodging, catching errors before they become ATO queries.

ATO Correspondence & Audit Support

If the ATO ever contacts you, whether it’s a query, a review, or a full audit, we act as your point of contact and represent your interests directly, so you’re never navigating that alone or unsure of how to respond. Having a Chartered Accountant handle this correspondence on your behalf often resolves matters faster and with far less stress than trying to manage it yourself.

Tax Accounting

Tax isn’t just a once-a-year event. Done well, it’s an ongoing part of how a business is structured and run, and it can genuinely affect how much of your profit you actually keep at the end of the day.

Business Tax Returns

Tax isn’t just a once-a-year event. Done well, it’s an ongoing part of how a business is sWe prepare and lodge tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals, making sure every legitimate deduction and offset is accounted for. We don’t just process the numbers you hand us. We ask the questions that uncover deductions business owners often miss.tructured and run, and it can genuinely affect how much of your profit you actually keep at the end of the day.

Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) Advice

If you provide vehicles, entertainment, or other benefits to employees, FBT obligations can catch business owners off guard. We help you understand what’s reportable and how to structure benefits more tax-effectively, so you can offer genuine perks to your team without an unexpected FBT liability.

Tax Planning & Minimisation Strategies

Legislation changes regularly. Negative gearing rules, CGT discount changes, and structuring rules have all shifted in recent years, and bucket company strategies that used to be standard practice may no longer work the same way after recent Budget changes. We keep track of what’s changing and review your position regularly, so your tax strategy doesn’t go stale the moment the rules move.

Credibility

Why Chartered Accountants

The Chartered Accountant (CA) Difference

A Chartered Accountant has completed a demanding professional program well beyond a standard accounting degree, covering advanced taxation, financial reporting, audit, and business strategy. Bookkeepers and BAS agents are valuable for day-to-day data entry and BAS lodgement, but they’re not qualified or legally licensed to give the kind of tax and structuring advice a CA can. Knowing which professional you actually need for a given task can save you money and keep you compliant.

Qualifications That Give You Confidence

Working with a CA means the advice behind your numbers has been tested against a rigorous professional standard – not just software prompts and templates. It’s the difference between someone who processes your numbers and someone who can actually advise on them, sign off on financial statements with professional accountability, and represent you confidently in front of the ATO if it ever comes to that.

How we work

Accounting Support for Every Business Stage

Your accounting needs today aren’t the same as they’ll be in five years. We work with businesses across every stage of growth, adjusting the level and type of support as your business changes.

Scaling Beyond Your Original Structure

Many businesses outgrow the accounting setup that served them well in the early years. As revenue and complexity increase, the structure, systems, and tax position that once worked can start holding you back rather than supporting you. We help established businesses reassess and rebuild that foundation properly, rather than patching an old structure that no longer fits.

Established SMEs & Growing Teams

As a business grows, so does its complexity: payroll, multiple entities, more sophisticated reporting needs, and often the introduction of new shareholders or partners. We scale our support alongside you rather than leaving you to outgrow us, so you’re never stuck explaining your business from scratch to a new accountant every few years.

Preparing for Sale or Succession

If you’re planning to sell, hand the business to family, or transition out over time, the accounting groundwork needs to start well before the transaction does. Buyers and family successors alike want clean, well-documented financials, and the tax structuring decisions made years in advance often determine how much of the sale proceeds you actually keep. We work alongside our business exit planning and succession planning services to make sure your numbers support that process, not complicate it.

Systems

Cloud Accounting & Modern Systems

Paper receipts and end-of-year surprises shouldn’t be how you run a business in 2026. Modern cloud accounting systems mean you can know how your business is performing at any given moment, not just when your accountant closes off the books each year.

Real-Time Reporting & Dashboards

We set businesses up on modern cloud accounting platforms so you can see how you’re actually performing at any point in the year – not just after your accountant closes off the books. That means catching a cash flow problem while there’s still time to act on it, not three months after the fact.

Seamless Bookkeeping Integration

Whether you handle bookkeeping in-house or work with an external bookkeeper, we make sure your systems talk to ours cleanly, so nothing gets lost or duplicated between the two. A clean handoff between bookkeeping and accounting is one of the simplest ways to avoid year-end reconciliation headaches.

Reach

Adelaide-Based, Australia-Wide Reach

Local Expertise for South Australian Businesses

We’re based in Adelaide’s CBD and understand the South Australian business landscape, from local compliance quirks to the industries that make up our state’s economy, including agribusiness, trades, and professional services.

Remote & Virtual Accounting Nationwide

Increasingly, our clients aren’t just in Adelaide. Cloud accounting and virtual meetings mean we support business owners across Australia just as closely as we support the ones down the road, with no compromise on service just because you’re interstate. Wherever you’re based, you get the same direct access to a Chartered Accountant, not a call centre.

Our Process

YSL team in boardroom

1

Initial Consultation

We start with a conversation about where your business is at, what’s working, and what isn’t. No obligation, no jargon, and no assumption that one accounting package fits every business.

2

Onboarding & Systems Review

We review your current accounting setup, structure, and reporting, and identify anything that needs cleaning up or restructuring before we take the reins, so you’re not inheriting old problems along with a new accountant.

3

Ongoing Support

From there, it’s ongoing: compliance handled on schedule, tax planning reviewed regularly, and someone to call when a decision comes up that has money attached to it, rather than waiting until your next scheduled catch-up.

Industries

Industries We Support

Agribusiness & Farming

We understand the specific tax and structuring issues facing farming businesses, including trust structures, multi-generational succession, and the impact of recent legislative changes on farming trusts and CGT.

Trades & Construction

Cash flow timing, contractor arrangements, and equipment purchases all carry specific tax and accounting considerations we regularly work through with trade and construction clients, who often face very different cash flow patterns to service-based businesses.

Professional Services

For consultancies, healthcare providers, and other professional service businesses, we focus on structuring for tax efficiency and supporting growth without adding unnecessary compliance overhead that slows the business down.

Frequently Asked Questions

YSL Component — FAQ (Accounting & Tax)
How much does an accountant cost?

Costs vary depending on your business's size and complexity. A single-entity business with straightforward reporting needs pays less than a multi-entity business with employees and more complex structuring. We provide clear, upfront pricing after understanding your specific situation, rather than one-size-fits-all packages.

Do you work with businesses outside Adelaide?

Yes. While we're based in Adelaide, cloud accounting and virtual meetings mean we support clients across Australia with the same level of service as our local clients.

CA vs. regular accountant: what's the difference?

"Accountant" isn't a protected title in Australia, so anyone can technically call themselves one. Chartered Accountant (CA) is a formally recognised qualification requiring rigorous training, ongoing professional education, and adherence to a professional code of conduct, giving you a level of assurance a generic "accountant" label doesn't guarantee.

How often should I review my accounting with a professional?

Beyond annual compliance, we recommend at least quarterly check-ins for most growing businesses. That's enough to catch cash flow issues, tax planning opportunities, or structuring questions while there's still time to act, rather than discovering them at tax time.
